Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD) seeks an experienced leader to serve as its next Chief of Police. Located in the Greater Sacramento area, LRCCD serves approximately 73,000 students at American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake and Sacramento City colleges; and major centers in Placerville, Davis, West Sacramento, Natomas and Rancho Cordova. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration, the Chief of Police is responsible for District-wide security and safety services, including emergency preparedness. The Chief oversees a staff of 55 full-time employees, including 27 sworn (authorized 35), 15 civilian employees and more than 100 part-time civilian police service officers. The department also operates a 24-hour communications center. The new Chief of Police will be a visionary leader who has a strong command presence, as well as outstanding people and management skills. The Chief will set clear goals for the department and develop a comprehensive plan that emphasizes community policing and problem-solving. The successful candidate will be forward thinking and driven to implement best policing practices that are appropriate for a college campus. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible and successful experience in law enforcement, including three years in a high-level supervisory/management capacity. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. Salary range is up to $151,067 with placement DOQ, plus excellent benefits. Annual stipend for an earned doctorate from an accredited university.
